DURHAM, NC – December 20, 2013 — Sentinel Data Centers hosted the North Carolina Technology Association’s final Emerging Tech + Trends event of the year, showcasing its new 420,000 square foot data center located in Durham, North Carolina to over 100 attendees.  The “NC-1” data center is designed, built and commissioned to the most stringent enterprise standards and benefits from among the lowest all-in utility rates in the nation.

The Emerging Tech + Trends (ET+T) series is a breakfast forum where leaders combine professional development and networking.  Each meeting explores a specific topic around technology’s impact on North Carolina’s economy and workforce, and features a panel discussion featuring solutions providers and technology consumers.

The ET&T event topic of discussion was, “Next Generation Enterprise Data Centers- Build or Outsource?” and the panel discussion was moderated by Paul Hines, Vice President of Operations and Engineering for Sentinel Data Centers.  The expert panel was comprised of Jo Abernathy, CIO Blue Cross Blue Shield NC, Billy Willis, CTO Duke Health Systems, Joe Freddoso, President & CEO MCNC, and Enoch Moeller, Site Director for Google.

“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to host this event at our newly commissioned facility in partnership with NCTA.  There has been much discussion within enterprise IT regarding data center options available.  The incredibly knowledgeable panel provided numerous insights from real world experiences that should help inform these decisions,” says Brian Baker, Vice President, Business Development at Sentinel Data Centers.

Marc Montoro, Senior Director, Programs & Communications of NCTA says, “Sentinel has been an excellent partner and member of NCTA since its arrival in North Carolina.  We were well pleased that Sentinel Data Centers could host this event and the session was well received by our attendees.”
